Bought with a Price

The apostle Paul doesn't mince words when he writes in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
This isn't just theological language. It's the foundation of understanding our purpose. Jesus bankrupted the glory of heaven to rescue us from sin and death. We were bought out of depravity and placed into the family of God. When something costs that much, there's an expectation that it will be used for its intended purpose.
