Giving Is Obedience
Giving in the life of faith is framed as an act of obedience rather than merely an expression of generosity, and God invites his people to trust him in this area. The command to bring the full tithe into the storehouse comes with an offer: test God and watch how he responds, not to manipulate him but to learn his provision and faithfulness. Responding in obedience to this invitation trains the heart to rely on God as the source rather than on one’s own calculations.
Malachi 3:10 (ESV)
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
Is there a regular way of giving (money, time, service) you’ve withheld from God out of fear or control; if you were to “test” God this month by giving sacrificially, what exact gift will you commit to, and when will you give it?
